The Embassy of Georgia to the Republic of Cyprus, in cooperation with the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia and the University of Cyprus, participated in the European Archaeology Days, organized by the Ministry of Culture of Cyprus and the Department of Antiquities.

 

The Embassy of Georgia to the Republic of Cyprus, in cooperation with the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia and the University of Cyprus, participated in the European Archaeology Days, organized by the Ministry of Culture of Cyprus and the Department of Antiquities.
 
Within the framework of the event, archaeologists of the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia, Suliko Kokhreidze and Boris Gelashvili, delivered a public lecture entitled “Georgian Cultural Heritage in Cyprus.” The speakers presented information on the medieval Georgian monasteries discovered in Cyprus and the expeditions conducted by Georgian scholars.
 
The audience was addressed by Michalis Olympios, Dean of the Faculty of History and Archaeology at the University of Cyprus, as well as by Marine Narchemashvili, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of Georgia to the Republic of Cyprus.
 
The European Archaeology Days aim to promote archaeological activities and encourage public engagement with the cultural heritage of participating countries.
 
As part of the initiative, more than 1,000 events and activities will be held across 30 European countries. Georgia’s participation aimed to raise awareness among the local public and academic circles about Georgia’s cultural heritage preserved in Cyprus
