The Chargé d’Affaires of Georgia in the Republic of Cyprus, Marine Narchemashvili, held a meeting with His Beatitude Archbishop George III, the Head of the Church of Cyprus and Archbishop of New Justiniana and All Cyprus.
 
During the meeting, the parties paid special attention to the Christian ties between Georgia and Cyprus. They highly praised the relations between the two Churches. His Beatitude congratulated the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Shio III, on his enthronement and expressed readiness to maintain close high-level relations and to exchange visits.
 
The significant historical contribution of the Orthodox faith and the Church to the relations between the two nations was emphasized, and hope was expressed that the Church would continue to play an important role in bringing the two states and peoples closer together.
 
The discussion also touched upon the 1,700th anniversary of the declaration of Christianity as the state religion of Georgia and the events planned in connection with this jubilee date.
 
His Beatitude pledged the Embassy his full support in its future activities.
