Ambassador's Welcome Speech
მისასალმებელი სიტყვა
Welcome to the official website of the Embassy of Georgia to the Republic of Cyprus! This webpage is designed to facilitate communication with the public and provide interested parties with concise information on relevant topics.
Diplomatic relations between Georgia and Cyprus were established in 1992, and the Embassy of Georgia in Nicosia opened in 2005.
The ties between Georgia and Cyprus date back to the prehistoric era, sharing cultural, spiritual, and intellectual values. Cyprus' geographical location and its proximity to scientific and religious centers of the ancient world have attracted Georgians for centuries. Notably, one of the most important Georgian cultural centers of the Medieval Age was founded in Cyprus, in the village of Yialia, and continued functioning for centuries.
Additionally, it is crucial to highlight that the Republic of Cyprus firmly supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia, as well as the European integration of Georgia. These commitments constitute the cornerstone of our nation's foreign policy.
Assuming the role of Ambassador to the Republic of Cyprus is a great honor for me. I am hopeful that, throughout this tenure, I can contribute modestly to furthering the connection and strengthening cooperation between Georgia and Cyprus across various realms, including politics, trade, energy, transport, culture, education, tourism, and agriculture. My aim is not only to focus on specific areas but also to foster enhanced people-to-people interactions, both in terms of direction and the reinforcement of interpersonal ties.
Thank you for your interest in the activities of the Embassy of Georgia in the Republic of Cyprus.
With all Due Respect,
Konstantine Kvachakidze
